✨ New Groups Experience: Easier to Run, Easier to Discover, Fully Customizable
We’ve delivered a major upgrade to Groups in Vanilla — designed to remove long-standing friction and make Groups something customers can confidently scale.
Whether your customers are running beta programs, CABs, regional chapters, partner communities, or private spaces, Groups are now easier to manage, easier to discover, and more flexible to design.
What’s New
🔹 Centralized Member Management
Each Group now includes a dedicated Member Directory with tabs for Members, Applicants (private groups), and Invitations. Owners and Leaders can easily manage users, resend invites, and export data — no APIs required.
🔹 Leader Empowerment
Group Leaders can now (optionally) moderate and curate their own spaces (approve answers, manage discussions, review reports and escalations in the CMD, and more), reducing day-to-day admin overhead.
🔹 Improved Discoverability
Discussions from Groups now appear in Recent Posts for group members, helping surface activity naturally and increase engagement.
🔹 Customizable Group Pages
Using Layout Editor, admins can now design both the Groups Directory and individual Group pages with widgets like Posts, Events, Members, and CTAs — no heavy customization required.
🔹 Easier Exports
You can now easily export lists of members, applicants or invitees with the click of a button (and the export permission!)
This upgrade makes Groups feel less like a side feature and more like a strategic program space within your community.
