Updated Filtering Behavior on Recent Posts Page
In response to feedback received after the release of Scoped Tagging, we’ve improved how filtering works to ensure users can reliably find content when browsing tags or other filtered views in communities that have categories configured to hide posts from Recent Posts & Widgets.
Posts from these categories will still be excluded from the Recent Posts feed by default. However, when a user applies specific filters, we treat that as a clear signal that they are looking for something specific. In those cases, all relevant posts will appear as long as the user has permission to view them, regardless of the category’s “hide from recent posts & widgets” setting.
This updated behavior applies to:
- Tag Filter
- Followed Categories Filter
- Suggested Content Filter
- Post Status Filter
This change prevents situations where a user clicks a tag and lands on an empty page, making filtering feel more intuitive without compromising any category-level privacy or permission controls.
Auto-Follow Groups When Joining
Users will now automatically follow a group as soon as they join it. Previously, joining and following were two separate steps, which often resulted in members missing updates from groups they intended to participate in.
This change makes group engagement more seamless by assuming that joining a group indicates interest in its activity. If users prefer not to receive notifications, they can adjust their default notification settings for Group Activity or manage preferences on a per-group basis, as always.
