Anonymize Analytics Data
With Vanilla Analytics community activity is tracked to provide your organization with important engagement metrics. Each Analytics event tracked can typically be tied to a user using their username and UserID. While this specificity is helpful, there may be cases where your organization does not want user activity to be tracked in this manner. With that in mind, we have added
- a global setting that will allow you to anonymize analytics data
- a set of dev tools that can be used to allow users to set their own Analytics preferences via your third-party cookie consent forms.
Manage Data Exports
You can now control which roles have permission to export CSVs of community data using the Manage.Exports permission. This will control who can export
- using our API
- user data from the Users dashboard when paired with the Users.Edit permission
- CSVs of data from the Analytics dashboard when paired with the Analytics.Data.View permission
Deeper Pageview Insights
We have added new grouping & filtering options to the Pageview data stream for Analytics to provide deeper insights into community traffic patters. These include -
- User Device Type
- User OS Family
- User Browser Family
- Article Author
With these updates you can better understand
- if and when search bots are indexing your community and causing a spike in traffic
- which devices and browsers are most used by your community members
