Enabling File Attachments
This functionality is built into our editors, which are enabled in your community by default. If you are looking to embed videos, tweets, or other content into your post, we’ve documented that process here.
In order for a user to be able to upload an attachment, including image files, they need the "Uploads>Allow" permission to be enabled for the role they are assigned to.
Inserting Images and Uploading Files
This icon indicates the Attach File tool. This will prompt your browser's file explorer, and you can select your image or file.
The easiest way by far to upload and image or file is the drag-and-drop method.
If you are using our older Advanced Editor with HTML, BBC and Markdown modes, the appropriate markup for an image will be inserted where the cursor is, and the image will appear when the post is published. File types other than images that are dropped in will appear underneath the comment box.
Supported File Types
There are some restrictions to the file types and sizes allowed on the hosted version of Vanilla. Listed below are the current types that File Upload allows by default:
You can submit a support request if your particular community needs a file type whitelisted.
By default, uploads can be up to 50 MB but you can optionally increase these to 100 MB by contacting your CSM or Support
