In this article, you'll learn how to upload files using the Rich Editor, as well as the file types the editor supports.
📝 NOTE: If you want to learn how to embed videos, tweets, or other content into your post, check out this article.
Required permissions
To upload an attachment, including image files, users need the following permission for their assigned Role:
Upload a file
You can upload files when creating all post types: Discussions, Questions, Ideas, Polls, and Events.
- Place your mouse cursor where you'd like the file to be located in the post.
- Click the Upload File icon at the bottom left.
- This prompts your browser's file explorer to open. Locate and insert the file you'd like to upload.
✔️ TIP: You can also simply drag and drop a file directly from your computer to the Rich Editor. Note that when you drag and drop an image file, it will embed directly in the editor instead of uploading as an attachment (refer to the Example upload section below for an example of this).
Example upload
In the example below, we've uploaded the same image file in two ways: once as an attachment via the Upload File method, and once as a direct embed via the drag-and-drop method.
Delete attachment
To delete a file you've uploaded:
- Click to select the file in the editor.
- Click the trashcan icon.
