About the Branding & SEO page
Use the Branding & SEO page to manage the text, images, colors, and metadata that identify your community and can support SEO, AI-powered discovery, and shared-link previews.
Open Appearance > Branding & SEO in the Dashboard.
SEO, GEO, and AIO
The settings on this page can support your search and AI discoverability strategy. This work may be described as search engine optimization (SEO), Generative Engine Optimization (GEO), or AI Optimization (AIO).
Clear titles, descriptions, organization details, and metadata give search systems, AI-powered discovery tools, and the crawlers that feed them useful context about your community. These settings do not guarantee rankings, inclusion, summaries, or citations.
Save your changes
The page has a Save button in the upper-right corner. Select Save after making changes to the Branding & SEO form.
After you update a setting, select Save to apply your changes.
Homepage Title
The homepage title is displayed on your home page. Choose a clear title that supports your SEO and AI-powered discovery strategy.
Site Description
The site description provides concise context about your community for SEO and AI-powered discovery. For best results, use a description that is 100–150 characters long.
Banner Title
The banner title appears on your site's banner and in your browser's title bar. If you upload a logo, it replaces this title on user-facing forum pages. Some themes may hide the banner title.
Organization
Enter your organization name. It is used for SEO microdata and JSON-LD.
Logo
The logo is used at the top of your site by default. You can override it with a Style Guide or an individual layout.
Mobile Logo
The mobile logo is used at the top of your site by default. You can override it with a Style Guide or an individual layout.
Banner Image
The banner image is used across your site by default. You can override it for a specific category, subcommunity, or Knowledge Base. You can also override it with a Style Guide or the Theme Editor for any page.
Favicon
The favicon appears in your browser's title bar. It is scaled down appropriately.
Touch Icon
The touch icon appears when someone bookmarks your site on the home screen of a mobile device. Use a 152-pixel image for the touch icon.
Share Image
When someone shares a link from your site, Vanilla tries to use an image from the page. If the page does not contain an image, Vanilla uses the Share Image instead.
Use an image that is at least 50 × 50 pixels. We recommend 200 × 200 pixels.
Address Bar Color
Set a color for the browser address bar. Some browsers support this setting.
Meta Tags
Use Meta Tags for domain verification with Google Search Console and other services. Copy the required meta tags from your source and paste each one on a new line.
Defer Javascript Loading
Use Defer Javascript Loading when you want to prioritize SEO, GEO, or AIO. When enabled, your page loads before Javascript executes, which may help search and AI crawlers process your page content. This can improve SEO, but it may also cause Javascript errors on your site.
Consider this setting when you are prepared to review key pages and interactions after enabling it.
Warning: Enabling this feature may cause Javascript errors on your site.
