One of the pre-moderation tools Higher Logic Vanilla (Vanilla) provides is the ability to pre-moderate Categories in your community.
- In a pre-moderated Category, all new discussions and/or comments are automatically blocked and sent to the Moderation Queue. See Moderation Queue to learn more.
- An Admin or Moderator can then decide whether to approve or delete the content.
Use case
This tool is often used when an organization believes that a Category's content may be particularly sensitive, or should otherwise be subject to review before it's available to the community.
Define your Pre-Moderated Categories
1. Access the Dashboard.
2. Navigate to Moderation > Settings > Premoderation Settings.
3. In the Premoderated Categories area, click the Edit Categories button.
4. Click the Categories dropdown to view all of your community's Categories. Select the Categories you want to pre-moderate.
5. Decide what content to automatically moderate: discussions and/or comments. ⚠️ This choice applies to all of your pre-moderated Categories.
Result
When users post in these Categories, they're notified that their content has to be approved.
📝 NOTE: With comments, a notification popup displays briefly at the bottom of the page.
