Higher Logic Vanilla (Vanilla) offers several addons that you can use to connect to other accounts that you have. These Social Connect Addons are listed below and some are described in more detail in dedicated sections.
Manage your Social Media Connections
1. Access the Dashboard.
2. Navigate to Settings > Connections > Social Media.
The Social Connect Addons page lists the available connections.
On this page you can:
- click the document icon to access the associated knowledge base article,
- see whether the addon has been configured,
- click the settings icon to access the addon's Settings dialog, and
- slide the toggle right to enable, or left to disable, the addon.
Social Connect addons
- Facebook Social Connect - Users can sign in to your Vanilla community via their Facebook account and, optionally, share forum content there.
- LinkedIn Social Connect - Users can sign in to your Vanilla community via their LinkedIn account.
- Microsoft Account - Users can sign in to your Vanilla community using their Microsoft account credentials.
- OpenID - Users can sign in to your Vanilla community with OpenID. NOTE: This has to be enabled in order to use the Google SignIn and Steam Connect connections.
- Snap Kit Log In - Users can sign in to your Vanilla community via their Snap Chat account.
- Twitter Social Connect - Users can sign in to your Vanilla community via their Twitter account.
- Google SignIn - Users can sign in to your Vanilla community via their Google account. NOTE: The OpenID addon on this page must be enabled.
- Steam Connect - Users can sign in to your Vanilla community via their Steam account. NOTE: The OpenID addon on this page must be enabled.
Issue & case management addons
- GitHub - Staff users can create issues from discussions and comments.
- Pega - Staff users can create cases from discussions and comments.
- Zendesk - Staff users can create tickets and cases from discussions and comments.

Twitter
To learn how to set up the link between Twitter and your Vanilla community account, see:
The set-up process is necessary only if you want your users to be able to connect their Twitter accounts to their community profiles, which makes it easier for them to publish content on Twitter without having to go to Twitter.
📝 NOTE: This is required for Social Sign In as well as for Automatic Social Share and is recommended for a better user experience.
Social reactions
Social reactions adds a Twitter share option to your community so that users can share posts directly to Twitter.
If your Vanilla community is not connected to Twitter, your community users:
- will have to log in to Twitter whenever they click this icon and
- will not be able to link their forum and Twitter accounts.
Facebook

Connections section of user profiles
When any one of the social-connection addons is enabled, the Connections section displays on users' profiles.
On the Connections page, users can self-manage the connections between their Vanilla forum account and their social-media accounts.
📝 NOTE: If you have not fully connected your social app, this page will display an error. It is recommended that you complete the integration or hide this section from profiles via CSS.
