There are various factors that can affect the data that different Admins see.
Below are two "data discrepancy" scenarios that you should be aware of when reviewing your community-activity analytics.
Page Views count discrepancy
The page views count that displays on some posts does not align with the page views count on the Analytics tab in the Dashboard. Why?
- In order to optimize site performance, page views on posts are updated only every ten views that the post receives. So, it's possible for a post to have a view count of 10 yet have 15 comments; the page views count simply hasn't updated yet because of the "every ten" rule.
The Analytics tab displays the more accurate number of page views.
Time zone impacts on data
The analytics for any one day are based on a 24-hour "midnight-to-midnight" period. Each Admin who views the data will see it for the midnight-to-midnight period for the time zone that is set for their device.
So, two Admins in different time zones could very likely see varying analytics data due to their "midnight-to-midnight" periods actually occurring at different times.
- A device (e.g., a laptop or mobile device) will always present analytics data for its "configured" time zone, irrespective of which time zone it is in.
- If the device is taken to a different time zone and its time zone is then (manually or automatically) updated, the analytics data will then be based on the midnight-to-midnight period for that time zone. This could result in different analytics data, and this is to be expected.
