#TipTuesday: Gauging Content Success & Maximizing Your Content Strategy with Monday.com

Hot on the heels of our Content Calendar Webinar, we got some great follow up questions from @dpuchacz regarding how they can use Monday.com better to organize and review their content calendar.

I thought this would be great information to share with everyone, so it's inspired this week's #TipTuesday post! Read on below…

In any thriving software community, the success of your content is key to engagement and growth. But how do you measure that success, and what should you do when a post doesn't quite hit the mark? Let's dive into some strategies using Monday.com to make your content work harder for you.

1. Tracking Success in Monday.com

Set up a high-level board in Monday.com to track all your ongoing and past programs. Here's what to include:

  • Start Date: When did the program or content launch?
  • Content Frequency: How often is new content added (weekly, monthly)?
  • Content Type: Is it a community discussion, article, email, etc.?
  • Last Review: When was the content last reviewed for relevance?
  • Next Review: When is the next scheduled review?

Success metrics vary by content type. For instance, check open and click rates for emails (if you’re using tools like Catalyst), while for community content, focus on page views and comments. Regularly updating your review notes in Monday.com will help you compare and track progress over time.

2. Dealing with Underperforming Content

Not all content will be a home run, and that’s okay! Here’s how to handle it:

  • Don’t Delete: Keep posts that don’t perform well; they might be useful later.
  • Replace Programs, Not Content: If an entire program isn’t working, try introducing something new instead of just leaving a gap.
  • Investigate and Adjust: For content that consistently underperforms, look into why. Is it hard to find? Does the title or summary need improvement? Work with marketing and CS teams to refine and relaunch if needed.

3. Measuring Content Value

Establish a success measurement system for your content. Use a tracking document to monitor downloads and engagement over time. Here’s a quick guide:

  • High Value: 125+ downloads per month
  • Valuable: 100 downloads per month
  • Minimally Valuable: 50 downloads per month
  • Limited Value: 10 downloads per month

Lower-value content isn’t necessarily bad—it might just need a targeted audience or better visibility. Use these insights to refine your strategy.

4. Keeping Your Content Fresh

Regularly announce new articles and updates to keep your community engaged. Consider setting up automated notifications in Monday.com to streamline this process.

By tracking and reviewing your content strategically in Monday.com, you can ensure your community stays vibrant and engaged. Remember, it’s all about finding what works and being ready to adapt when something doesn’t.

Happy content planning! 😊
