I would love to learn how to create a graph of category views over time for jut one specified category, and I'm having a hard time filtering out the other categories on the graph.
That's possible.
Note that within your Traffics tab, if you hover over the 'pageviews by parent category name' graph you can get a number of pageviews for the various categories being displayed for the time period you are reviewing.
You should also be able to use the category filter on the Traffic tab to show just the stats for the category in question.
If you want it to be a stand-alone graph that's always present, you can add the following into the custom dashboard builder:
The filter is what's important to give me pageviews for just a particular category.
Thanks @BrendanP
I was so proud to have come to that conclusion when I kept playing with those filters- and felt even better seeing that this was the approach a Vanilla Pro would recommend!
In the case of our Community, we changed the format of the graph to bar chart, and then showed the data by day to track the impact of key decisions like traffic to the category after making it available even to guest users.
So glad to be able to view the impact of our choices using this analytics tool- and grateful to you for your help with my question
