Examples of how you are using Custom Pages in your communities.

Hi everyone,

My team is considering to use knowledge bases to share about our programs but I was also curious how others are leveraging custom pages and how this could also work alongside a KB.

If you have some examples to share I would like to hear them, or even screenshots of your custom pages to get me inspired! Thanks.

Hi @Amneris_Morales,

I have only recently moved to the Vanilla platform. When we were looking at our options, I immediately ruled out knowledge base for our articles as they don't allow comments. We always want to ensure we encourage participation and enable our members to quickly and easily join in the discussion, so that was a deal breaker for us and we decided to use a custom page type instead. We are a home improvement community and have one type for standard blog-style articles, and another for our step-by-step How to project articles. Hope that helps.

This page shows different widgets at the top depending on your role. At the top you're probably seeing a 'Sign/In' message. If you were an applicant, it'd tell you about waiting to be approved. If you haven't confirmed email, it would prompt you to.

Using collections. I've had to use some coding tweaks to reverse the Collection order.
Automation removes old items after 3 months to keep the page small - though I'd prefer this page to actually list all Dilemmas & Polls if it were ever possible to only load a few combined with a 'Read More' option.

We've been using the KB product for about a year and loving it - we currently have just one custom page. This is a landing page that pulls together several sales resources (we call them battle cards, which help arm our team with talking points on a specific solution). Since our KB is categorized by solution, and we have a battle card for each solution, we built a landing page to house links to each of the battle cards so they're easy for reps to find and they can jump right in. The Featured Links widget, including images, allowed us to create a really clean layout that's easy to navigate.

We're also looking into creating a custom page as a "landing spot" for a specific team within our org, where we can pull together links to resources that would be especially helpful to them.
