Can you download all comments/usernames/profile fields into csv?

Hi everyone,

I've been asked by our product design team if there's a way to download all comments from a community post, including user names and company in an excel file or csv? For context, we post a lot of feedback opportunities and get lots of feedback so the team want a way of easily categorising the feedback based on customer/market etc. Is there a way of doing this via the APIs?

Hey @Alex Dunne —- yep, totally doable via the API 🙌

Once you’ve got the discussion ID, you can pull all comments for that thread with:

/api/v2/comments?discussionID=971

That gives you one record per comment, including:

• the comment content 💬
• timestamps ⏱️
• the posting user (name, profile link, etc.)
• any post profile fields your community has configured (often things like company, role, region, market 👀)

If your product/design team just wants something they can immediately slice and dice in Excel or Google Sheets, there’s also a CSV version (no JSON wrangling required 😄):

/api/v2/comments.csv?discussionID=971

A couple of extra callouts that may help folks who find this thread later:

• How “company” shows up depends on your setup — it might be a custom profile field, or sometimes inferred from email domain.
• What data you get back is scoped to the permissions of the user making the API call, so private users or restricted fields will only appear if the caller can see them 🔐

This works really well for high-engagement feedback threads where you want to analyse responses by customer, segment, or market. Hope that helps! 🎉
