Integrating an LMS into Vanilla

Hi everyone!

We are considering integrating an LMS into our community. We would like to be able to easily link to courses, have badges earned in the courses link back to the community, and be able to possibly award "points" for attending/completing courses.

Does anyone else currently do this in their community and if so, what software/product are you using to do it? I am sure we can use Zapier to connect much of this but wanted to hear from others about what platforms work best!

Hello Megan,
While waiting for other customers to respond on LMS integrations, here is some info on using Zapier:
- Vanilla documentation on Zapier triggers and actions
- Zapier documentation on Higher Logic Vanilla triggers and actions

"Award a Badge to aUser" is the relevant Action. It requires the User Email provided via a trigger from the LMS and the badge value which is static for this Zap.

Here is a pre-built template for newly-completed enrollments in LearnUpon to award Vanilla badge.

You cannot directly award points to a user. However, you can configure a badge to award points,. In this way, awarding the badge also provides the user with points. See this Feature Showcase for more ideas on badges

We're looking to expand our integration capabilities with LearnUpon so I'd recommend checking them out as a solution if you don't have an LMS.
