Automation Rules - how do you use them in your community? Let's share our ideas!
Hey everyone, this is my first time posting a discussion in this community so I hope I'm doing it in the right place! 😁
Personally, I'm super excited for the Automation Rules feature, and thought it would be fun to hear what other Community Managers look forward to using it for. Perhaps we can share some ideas of usecases and help each other implement in different useful ways.
Firstly, I am testing on our staging site to have any post that has been unanswered for X amount of time be bumped - which hopefully helps us spot any unanswered questions!

Hello!
I'm also excited for this feature! I'm hoping to see a rule whereby, if an Idea gets X amount of votes, it gets sent to the Community Management Dashboard.
Rationale: We're starting to use the Jira integration to send Ideas over to the space where the Product folks spend most of their time. We don't want to firehose them with every Idea that comes into the Community so we're hoping to create a workflow whereby, if an Idea gains enough traction, it's flagged for the mods so that we can turn it into a Jira ticket

First of all, LOVE this thread 😍
@Alex Dunne we will be adding 'escalate to Jira' as an option in release 019, though not specifically for the points usecase.
I'll evaluate scope of adding both escalate to CMD and escalate to jira as options for the ideation points trigger :D

Hey @CorneliaAskvall
A few that I'm looking forward to..
The Custom Profile Field ➡️ Follow Category rule is the big one that I can't wait to get in to our Community. Combining this with the Default Notification Preferences functionality will allow us to deliver relevant curated content to the right users without the effort required on their part to go and follow a category themselves. It should have a flow-on effect with the email digest and (hopefully) engagement.
We've also got a huge build-up of ancient posts which we're looking to close or move to the archive so the Time since post has had no activity ➡️ Close Post or Move Post will be super handy to clean up outdated content.
Lastly, we've already got it working through automatic role assignment at the moment, but the ability to both assign and remove a role using New/Updated Email Domain ➡️ Assign Role and Remove Role will be handy for our staff role.

Really excited to see you roll that out @Rav Singh - it's been a big talking point of mine recently on demos as people look for easier ways to personalize content and I would say it is resonating.
With Automation rules and category following + the discussion and category widgets we offer, you can create a unique homepage experience for every member who logs in.
