How to create a chart for ideas by tag?

Is there a way to create a chart in analytics that shows how many ideas you have with each tag?

In our Ideas Portal, we have tags by idea - for example 'Explorer Ideas'. We've created the pocket on the right which has links to each tag's page (similar to what Vanilla has).

The tags relate to various areas of our product and also to industries & solutions.

I need to be able to easily report on how many ideas there are for each tag. I can do this by exporting the API for discussions with tags included but the result is not very clean or easy to handle, so a dashboard/chart in analytics would be much quicker and easier.

Hey @stephanierichardson

This is how I would do it:

Data Source = Tags

Group by = Tag Name

Function = Count

Filters - Field = Category Name is your Product Ideas category (if they're all in the one place)

One thing to note is that the Statuses you have are "tags", so you may want to filter those out as well. Will this work for you?

SIDE NOTE!! We're seeing a weird issue with tags… no records in charts before Thursday. May just be our site.

That should work. And we could create two charts - one for 'status' tags which will be very helpful and one for our other tags.

I tried your steps but I got this when I got to the filter - I was able to select category name and then apply it but once I did that the chart is empty 🤔 Have you seen that before?

Hmm yes I think there's an issue with tags right now before Dec 14th.

Can you change your Date Range to just this last week, then see if data populates?

Oh! You'll need to enter a Category Value before data appears haha 🙂

Side note, for the Status values, I have a Score Card type of chart per-Status to display the numbers:

Hmm ya it is empty after putting in Category Value. Also stays empty after changing the date range so not sure what's wrong there.

Love your idea of the scorecards for statuses - I've added that and it is working 😎

Hmmm yes I'm getting very weird results when I add filters.

Well I seem to be able to get all tags by adjusting my settings to this:

But as soon as I add a Category it gives me blank data, like you see. Sorry, I think this is as far as I can help!!

That's worked somewhat - it is pulling all tags! Now just need to be able to filter to Ideas. Thanks so much for your help!!
