Unique visits vs Unique views?

Hello,

I was wondering if someone could help me understand the definitions of “unique visits” and “unique views”. I am creating a dashboard using the Analytics feature of Vanilla Forums, but I am struggling to grasp these concepts and their differences, if any.

I noticed that by default, the preset chart options only show page views, visits, and unique visits. Does this mean that there is no such thing as "unique views"?

I also noticed that when using these chart options presets, the metric to be used is displayed as "Count Unique", field: "User Session ID" when selecting "Unique visits". However, I would like to understand more about what this refers to.

I have read through the "Advanced Analytics" article and "Analytics Terminology" available in the Analytics documentation pages, but could not find these concepts addressed.

I believe that the key difference lies in what is being counted:

• "Unique visits" count the number of different users or devices that have accessed your community over a specified time period.
• "Unique views" count the number of times a specific piece of content has been viewed, with each view counted individually, even if it's by the same user or device.

Both metrics are valuable for understanding user engagement and the most valuable content on your community, but they provide insights into different aspects of user behavior.
