Customer experience after SSO is setup

We are in the process of getting SSO setup internally so that customers can access our community directly from our app without the registration process. Once we have this setup, if an unregistered customer came to our community via a Google search or any way that's not the app, what does the registration process look like? Is it similar to Google SSO, in that it would say to register with your Catalyst email?

    Hey @wes_catalyst

Assuming SSO becomes the only method of logging into your community, meaning, it was set as the ‘default sign-in method’, an unregistered or non-logged-in customer who visits the community first would click 'sign-in- and would be re-directed to the app sign-in page where they could authenticate in. Once they sign in, they would be redirected back to where they were in the community when they clicked sign-in.

For example from Anaplan if you click sign-in you're directed to the sign-in page - after signing in they would be re-directed back.

Those seem like two different things. ‘Stay signed in’ would be something in the Catalyst application.

The re-direct back to the community is something that is configured as part of the SSO integration with Vanilla.

That said, if you had SSO configured to be seamless then if they're signed in in Catalyst, they won't be prompted to sign-in in Vanilla - they will just automatically be signed in when they're on your Vanilla site.

If you run into specific issues configuring SSO I recommend you reach out to support as it can get quite technical at times.

@BrendanP that makes sense. Thanks for the quick response!

One last question, if they have opted to “stay signed in” via our app, does the redirect take that in to account and bring them automatically back to the community?
