Visibility of 'Read' vs 'Unread' posts

Hi Team,

Since going live with the Foundation theme, we have had some feedback (particularly those with vision challenges) as to the lack of differentiation between unread and read posts, as the difference in bold and normal font type looks quite similar (As pictured below)

Suggestion to have clearer differentiation between read an unread posts.

Thanks,

Mez Kreutzer

Hi @Mez_BCNA I came across your post :) I'm having difficulty detecting where this setting is in vanilla. Is it something automatically activated? Can you share how to find that setting?

Yet, agreeing with you that for accessibility, some customization options would be appreciated :)

@Rav Singh - I know you've done some work in this area. Can you help?

I'd love to say we have @PiperWilson but unfortunately I don't think we've got any custom styling on this aspect on our Community before or after our rebrand ☹️

Below is what a read vs unread post looks like on our Community for a logged-in member.

I see that this seems to be an out-of-the-box feature to use a bolder font-weight for unread discussion title (actual the other way around, a thinner one for the read ones 🙄 ).

Our users also complain about the bad differentiation between read and unread discussions :/ How can we improve this?

    All the best,

    Florian

    @fsmeierspryker

After Piper's tag in this post and the recent 0.12 release breaking our previous CSS, I spoke with our designer and we added a bit more styling to New label that appears on unread posts as shown below.

It doesn't impact the boldness of the titles as discussed above but it might be something you could look at for your community?

Hmm.. I think making it red or any other explicit colour could at least improve it. Yet, the eyeline start to read the title so ideally such a badge should be on the left side of the title (for writing from left to right)

How did you adjust it? :)

    All the best,
