Overview
What is Known Issues?
Launched in 2023, Known Issues is Higher Logic Vanilla's initiative to improve visibility into existing software defects that we're aware of.
Rather than contacting Support, Known Issues allows you to find information on bugs, see available workarounds, and receive updates on resolution status.
What is included?
While not exhaustive, our list aims to include all Known Issues that have been encountered by at least several customers.
The list only includes issues with functionality that is actively supported on our Product Life Cycle, excluding items such as legacy themes and deprecated addons.
This allows us to provide a list that is most helpful to the majority of our customers by selecting Known Issues that are relevant to them.
Finally, any performance issues related to infrastructure will not be reflected on this list as that will be covered by the Vanilla Status page.
How do I access Known Issues?
There are two main ways to utilize Vanilla Known Issues:
- View the Known Issues post
- Provides a centralized list of Known Issues and their current status
- Allows you to receive emails notifications for any changes
- Links to specific articles for each issue in the Knowledge Base (below)
- Visit the Known Issues Knowledge Base
- Contains a separate article for each Known Issue which includes additional information and any available workarounds
Receiving Notifications
How do I receive email notifications?
Receiving email notifications for any updates to our Known Issues is a simple two-step process:
- First, visit the main Known Issues post and bookmark it by clicking this icon:
- Secondly, visit your Notification Preferences page and ensure that you have the
Email
option enabled for "Notify me when people comment on my bookmarked discussions.":
That's it! Whenever we have fixed an issue we will add a comment to that post with the relevant information. Since you've bookmarked the post you will now receive an email notifying you whenever that happens.
Updates and Expectations
Understanding the Release schedule
Higher Logic Vanilla utilizes a staggered release schedule which means that new versions of the platform are deployed at different times for Enterprise, Corporate, and staging sites.
If you don't know which cohort your community falls into you can contact your CSM or Support to find out. Specific release dates for all cohorts of sites are available on the Release Notes page — these can vary per release.
When an item on the Known Issues list is resolved, it will be indicated on the list and we will also specify the version where that issue is fixed. This will allow you to identify when a fix will hit your particular site, if it hasn't already. The fix will also be included in all future releases.
When will my issue be resolved?
All issues are evaluated based on their perceived scope of impact and available workarounds. They are then prioritized against feature development and other issues.
For more information on target resolution times, and how known issues are categorized, please see the following article.
The best way to know when something on the Known Issues list has been fixed is to keep an eye on the Known Issues post, or subscribe to notifications as shown above.
It's also worth noting that every release has a "Bug Fixes & Improvements" section on the Release Notes page that indicates what has been fixed in that release.
