Our new theme editor is designed to allow you to easily configure and customize the look and feel of our Foundation themes, pages and components.
If you are not using Foundation, and are using a legacy theme, such as Keystone, Bootstrap3, or perhaps a custom theme, you have the option to start integrating Foundation-based pages and components with your existing theme, and can use the theme editor to configure these specific features.
Integrating Foundation Pages & Components
To enable Foundation pages and components, visit the new Labs page in your Dashboard Settings.
N.B. Vanilla Labs is a new page that will be deployed with Release 2021.008, in the interim contact your CSM or our Support team to enable these pages and components.
Which Foundation pages & components can I integrate into my theme?
Knowledge Base: Our Knowledge Base is 100% Foundation-based. If you are using our KB product but have yet to make the leap to Foundation, you will need to use the Theme Editor to configure the look and feel of your KBs.
Quick Links: Quick Links is a menu that is present in all of our legacy themes. Our new Foundation-based Quick Links component can be integrated into your theme, and has the added benefit of having customizable links.
User Cards: User Cards is a new feature. When viewing a users content within community or KB, you can click on their username to pull up a compact card showing a users basic profile info in-line.
Search Page: Foundation comes with a new search page. As we roll out our updated search service, you may want to integrate this new search page into your theme to begin leveraging our newest search features, such as Member Search, and search sorting.
By default this new search page will look something like this:
Customizing Foundation Pages & Components
If you are using KB or have integrated our new Search page into your theme you will use the Theme Editor to configure your new pages to match your existing theme
1. Copy your theme
- Navigate to the Themes section of your Dashboard Settings
- Make a copy of your exiting theme. This will launch our theme editor.
2. Make your edits
The theme editor works best for Foundation themes, but can be used to customize Foundation-based pages and components that are enabled in your theme, such as the new Search page.
N.B. When you use the editor on a non-Foundation theme, the settings you apply will only impact your Foundation-based components.
Insert your themes header & footer code
Configure your title bar
Your title bar sits below the header and contains navigation links. With the theme editor you can:
- Configure the title bar colours/styes
- Control the title bar height
- Update your logo and link
- Customize the navigation links
- Control alignment options
Configure colours, font, links & button styles
3. Apply Your New Template
Once you've made your changes, give your copy a unique name and save it.
From here, find your new template on the Themes page and click "Apply" to make it live!
