The Resolved Discussions addon makes it easier for your organization to review and track every discussion that is posted in your Higher Logic Vanilla (Vanilla) community. This feature is especially useful in highly-curated communities.
After the Resolved Discussions addon is enabled for your community, a few important things happen:
- All discussions across your Vanilla community are automatically flagged as Unresolved.
- Staff users can flag discussions as Resolved. The Resolved status is shared among all Staff users (i.e., if one Staff user marks a discussion as resolved, it displays as Resolved for all Staff users).

- A discussion will become "unresolved" if:
- a non-Staff user comments on it or
- a Staff user manually flags it as Unresolved.
Nomenclature
The Resolved and Unresolved labels are the "out-of-the-box" labels that addon assigns by default.

Status indicators
The following image shows the Resolved and Unresolved status indicators that display next to each discussion. These make it easy to see, at a glance, which discussions have to be reviewed.
🛑 IMPORTANT: These status indicators are visible to Staff users only.
Enable the addon
The Resolved Discussions V2 addon can be enabled by Vanilla staff only. If you want it enabled, contact Vanilla Support.

Resolve a discussion
After this addon has been enabled, all subsequent new discussions are automatically flagged as Unresolved.
After a discussion has been reviewed, to mark it as Resolved:
- On the main Discussions list page or on an individual discussion page, click a discussion's ellipsis (...) icon and select Resolve.
📝 NOTE: The status indicator changes to a green checkmark.
How Resolved discussions become Unresolved
There are two ways that a Resolved discussion can become Unresolved.
Staff users
A Staff user can manually flag a discussion as Unresolved by choosing Unresolve from the discussion's ellipsis menu.

Non-Staff users
When a non-Staff user comments on a Resolved discussion, the status indicator changes to a yellow exclamation mark (Unresolved).
Staff users can readily see when new comments are added to a discussion.
View all Unresolved discussions
The Unresolved option is available in the Quick Links list.
- Click Unresolved to access a page that lists all of the unresolved discussions in your community.
Staff users in Vanilla
In Vanilla, a Staff user is any user who belongs to a Role that grants the Garden
> Staff
permission (the Allow box is checked, as shown below).
